Madeira Wine rally is one of the four FIA mini-championship tests for the new Super 2000 category. Tests in Madeira will be seconds on the calendar and the others will take place in South Africa, where San Remo and China will open the competition.

The mini-world championship will be sponsored by EuroSport, the major international TV sports channel, which will cover a wide part of the event, making good advertisement of Madeira Islands for international tourism.

This championship has attracted special attention from automobile manufacturers. Toyota (Corolla) and Fiat (Punto) will have their models approved by the 1st of March. Renault (Logan), Peugeot, Lada and Volkswagen are also developing cars for this category.

This year’s Madeira Wine Rally will be from the 3rd to 5th of August.

Casa Velha do Palheiro, Choupana Hills and Quinta do Furão hotels in partnership with Windsor travel agency and Madeira Wind Birds leisure company had joined efforts to promote Birdwatching Packages to Madeira.

On a joint project called Madeira Birdwatching Experience, partly supported by Madeira Promotion Bureau, the partners intend to promote a new experience through Madeira’s Nature. By staying in each of these hotels tourists may enjoy the simple pleasure of waking up with the sound of birds in an environment rich of serenity.

From 2 to 5 days of birdwatching programmes, this product allies the vast experience of Windsor with the speciality of Madeira Wind Birds and the class of the hotels granting the tourist a quality experience.

The 2006 edition of the Golf Madeira Island Open which is part of the main PGA European Tour, will be held at Santo da Serra Golf Club from the 23rd to the 26th of March.

The Madeira Open is on the European calendar and every year attracts the best players to fight for victory hole by hole. There will be 144 participants from the 2005 PGA European Tour.

According to the regulations, the last two days of each tournament are played only by the 70 best contestants from the first two days.
The Santo da Serra golf course is in tip-top condition, which will contribute greatly to the success of the event.

If you are a golfer, come to Madeira that week and see for yourself the excellent golfing conditions that Madeira and Porto Santo islands have to offer.

This year, this prestigious magazine has chosen Madeira Island for this report. Photographers, journalists and the models Hila Marin, Edna Peters, Maaike Brinkhorst will be around the magnificent swimming pool of Quinta Jardins do Lago to present the new bathing suits collection for 2006 summer.
