For the second consecutive year The Resort Hotel Royal Savoy has win the “Achievement of Excellence 2005 Gold Award”, a prize given by Style Holidays. Since its opening in 2002 the Royal Savoy luxury hotel has win some prizes from which we detach the “Telegraph Travel Award” which in 2003 has recognized this hotel as the second best hotel in the world.

In mid-November Madeira Tourism Board start preparations for making Funchal look like a Christmas crib. The streets are decorated with lights of all colours and sizes, with allusive designs of the Island and Christmas season traditions. In early December, the city squares are brighten up with flowers. Poinsettias, holly and lady’s slipper orchids all help to color the city. And then there are the Christmas carols sounding out on the streets inspiring everyone with the christmas spirit. The streets fill up with people under this atmosphere of great joy. The recent fires in Madeira are currently off and there are no risks outside the burned areas. Avoid burned areas as many rocks are loose. It is now safe to travel around Madeira under normal conditions. The sun still shines but the temperature has decreased and it is now time to recover the burnt lands and to protect the the healthy ones. |
