Madeira Archipelago has three Golf courses, two in Madeira Island and one in Porto Santo. The ones in Madeira are the 18-hole par 72 course Palheiro Golf and Santo da Serra Golf Club with 27 holes. In both of them you can enjoy the magnificent views, one just above Funchal’s bay and on Santo da Serra you can amaze yourself with the landscape of Ponta de São Lourenço and Desertas.

About a year ago, another golf course was opened, this time in Porto Santo island.
This new infrastructure contemplates 18-holes and a short circuit of 9-holes par 3. Constructed on 1,600 square meters of land, this golf course has some lakes, joined together by small cascades and there is still a project to construct a hotel and a second phase of the course.

The indoor facilities count with a clube house where there is a restaurant, a bar, a billiards room, a living-room, sauna, jacuzzi and Turkish bath.

Tough Madeira was discovered in 1419, only on the 70th decade of the passed century the great and perfect waves of this island were found.

The amazing waves of Madeira remained as a secret of Gods during many years, until the Surf Magazine edit some photos of the break points of the Island. Since then, Madeira waves have been promoted through the world and attract many English, Americans and Australians surfers searching for the perfect wave.

With a subtropical climate influenced by the Gulf stream, Madeira island has excellent qualities for surfing. Good sea formations and water plans for free riding grant the radical surfers unforgettable moments. But be careful as these waves are powerful and you may find some nasty rocks just in the middle of your surf ride.

The culture of surf in Madeira is recent, even so visitors can already count with a Surf Shop and some Surf Clubs. The most suitable places for surfing in Madeira island are, on the south coast, Paúl do Mar, Jardim do Mar and Lugar de Baixo, and on the north coast, São Vicente.
