Feel the edge of New Year celebrations in Madeira Island. There is no better place to assist the mid-night fireworks show than at the sea, on a sailing boat. As Funchal geography is like an amphitheatre, the best view you can get of it is from the sea, in Funchal bay. This year we recommend you to enter the New Year on a different way, feeling all the enthusiasm in the air. At mid-night precisely all boats and cruise ships start to whistling together with the cathedral bells to announce the coming year with happiness.
Do not loose the chance to spend New Year's celebrations at sea, on a sailing boat with a friendly crew and toast to a new year full of joy, as the first night of it!

Madeira Events News   

On the 3rd of June Savoy Resort Hotel has offered a 5 star breakfast to 70 youngsters between 5 and 18 years old. This was a partnership between Savoy Group and 3 different solidarity institutions which work with children.

Children were so happy about the opportunity to delight themselves on a hotel breakfast and have a different day that their smile was contagious.

Congratulations to Savoy Hotel for this initiative!

Madeira Events News   

Madeira Islands will have its cow exhibiting on the Cow Parade Lisbon 2006. During May many cows will be spread around the streets, parks and public spaces of Portugal’s Capital.

Madeira cow was painted by the artist and art teacher Marco Fagundes Vasconcelos, the winner of the contest organized by Mdeira Shopping, to “dress the cow” under the theme Madeira – an island of dreams.

The painter has expressed Madeira traditions while dressing the cow. Madeira cow is dressing the traditional Madeira folklore skirt, vest and leather boots. The shirt is Madeira embroidery (though when the photo was taken it was not there yet) and it will wear a necklace with a Madeira Wine bottle. On its head it wears the most common flowers and fruits that grow in Madeira.

During last week Funchal was celebrating the beautiful and colourful flowers that named Madeira the Atlantic garden.

Since Wednesday the flower paths, a typical decoration on all Madeira festivities, were built on one of the main streets in Funchal.

On Saturday morning many school children went to the Município square to put a flower on the wall of hope.

Sunday was the peak day with the flower taking hundreds of adults and children through the main streets of the city, dancing, singing and spreading flowers all around.
