Ash cloud is affecting Madeira airports

Flights to Madeira  Madeira Tourism News

As the Iceland's volcanic ash cloud moves to the south, Madeira and Porto Santo airports are now closed due to it. So far there has been canceled 94 flights, from which 58 are national (Lisbon, Oporto, Ponta Delgada and Porto Santo) and 36 are international (UK, France; Belgium, Holland, Ireland and Switzerland). This means 11 thousand passengers affected since 00:00 of the 8th of May 2010 and until 6:00 pm of the 10th May 2010.

Though the ash cloud is still moving south the forecast until the 12th May 2010 at 00:00 shows Madeira still under the effect of it but more official news will be given at 18:00 of the 11th May 2010.
